Dr. Matt Corbin
Dr. Matt Corbin is an Air Force veteran with premier dental training, local roots, and a deep passion to serve his community. Born and raised in Franklin, he draws on a nearly 200-year heritage in Macon County. His passion for the local community and desire to serve others is what drove Dr. Corbin to the field of dentistry.
In 2010, Dr. Corbin completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC where he played two collegiate sports. During college, Dr. Corbin met his beautiful wife, Charissa and they married in the Spring of 2011 before beginning dental school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During dental school, he excelled clinically and served as President of the American Student Dental Association and Student Representative on the North Carolina Dental Society Board of Trustees. He served as the dental school Representative in the Graduate and Professional Student Federation and received the James A. Harrell Citizenship and Leadership Award for outstanding leadership in dentistry, community, place of worship, and higher education. He completed research with the Graduate Operative Department and served at free dental clinics both locally and abroad, including directing dental mission trips to Guatemala and Peru.
After graduating dental school in 2015, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force and completed a 1-year residency program where he furthered his knowledge and skills in many advanced specialty aspects of dentistry. He then took an assignment to serve a 3-year tour at a remote location in Alaska, where he practiced advanced surgical and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Corbin led his team to multiple awards, including Air Force Small Dental Clinic of the Year. He and his wife introduced two beautiful girls into the world during their time in Alaska. Sadie Ann and Josie Lee are their most precious possessions.
Dr. Corbin is so honored to be back and serve Macon County, North Carolina, this great place we call home.
Dr. Ashley Collins
Dr. Collins knew she wanted to be a dentist since the 5th grade. As a young child, she received dental treatment that instantly relieved pain and initiated a curiosity and passion for the art and science of dentistry. She realized the immediate impact she can make for patients, and she began the road towards achieving that goal.
Dr. Collins is a North Carolina native, hailing from Southern Pines, NC. She received her Bachelor of Science in Human Biology from North Carolina State University. During her freshman year, she met her husband, Hobe. Not long after meeting, Hobe brought Ashley to his hometown of Franklin, where she fell in love with the beauty of this quaint, mountain town.
Dr. Collins continued her education at North Carolina State University and received a Master’s of Physiology degree in 2017. While earning her master’s degree, she worked as an orthodontic assistant in Cary, NC. She started dental school at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine in 2018. During dental school, Dr. Collins embodied the school’s mission of serving the underserved by volunteering at the Bernstein Clinic, Missions of Mercy clinics, and the local food bank. Dr. Collins was selected as a J. Bradley Wilson Schweitzer Fellow for the 2020-21 fellowship year. As a Schweitzer Fellow, she logged over 100 project hours working in ECU’s Oral Medicine Clinic helping to educate and treat patients with autoimmune diseases. During her fourth year of dental school, Dr. Collins provided care as a student doctor in rural areas across the state. During her rotations, she enjoyed volunteering at free dental clinics in Cashiers and Bolivia, NC. Dr. Collins also got the opportunity to provide free dental treatment to veterans at both Smiles for Vets events hosted by her dental school.
Dr. Collins loves dentistry because she loves getting to meet and form relationships with patients of all ages. She has a passion for learning and loves the dynamic qualities the field of dentistry provides. Dr. Collins is a foodie and loves to cook and try new restaurants. She lives in Franklin with her husband and fur baby, Banks. Dr. Collins feels so fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community and the Corbin Dental family!
Dr. Harrison Conner
Dr. Conner was born and raised in Franklin and graduated Franklin High School in 2015. He was an active member of the Track & Field team that led him to compete in college at Western Carolina University. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry in 2019. Suring his college years, he was given the opportunity to shadow the late Dr. Larry Barbles. He witnessed firsthand the impact dentistry can have on an individual and it inspired Dr. Conner to pursue the dental profession and serve the dental needs of his hometown. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from East Carolina University’s School of Dental Medicine in the Spring of 2023. He graduated with honors, was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dentist Honors Society and was awarded the Student Leadership Award. He served as an active member of the Periodontology Club, Hispanic Student Dental Association, and the American Student Dental Association. Outside of his dental profession, Dr. Conner enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Marguerite van der Vorst, working out, fishing, eating Oreos and hanging out with family and friends. We are excited to have Dr. Conner in our office and the skills that he provides to our patients!
